Hiking the Fells (Grades 6-8) • Register • View Cart •

Calling all hikers! Get outdoors, enjoy nature, hike and explore the Middlesex Fells with friends!  This program is led by David Fatula, founder of Guineafowl Adventure. David is an outdoors enthusiast who hikes the around the northeast. His passion for outdoors and building connections led him to building Guineafowl Adventure and share his passion with those who love the outdoors! In this program will engage curiosity, encourage adventure, build camaraderie, and build stamina on hikes of varying distances and challenges. Gain confidence in understanding navigation techniques, learn about the principles of “Leave No Trace” environmental stewardship and read the forest for clues about the non-human life around us. (6 weeks)

What’s Included:

  • Transportation to and from the Fells is included via the Guineafowl transport van.
    • Guineafowl, along with Recreation Staff, will pick up and drop off hikers from McCall Middle School
  • Hikers will be provided with proper hiking equipment for their adventure
    • Boots not included
  • Two hiking guides
Areas Guineafowl will look to explore:
  • North Reservoir - hike to Bear Hill via Reservoir and Skyline Trails
  • North Reservoir - North Reservoir and Middle Reservoir "hug the Res" hike
  • Molly Spring Road - hike to the Middle Reservoir Island, explore the island and loop back
  • Molly Spring Road - South Reservoir Loop
  • South Reservoir / South Dam Road - hike to Panther Cave / explore Panther Cave
  • Red Cross Path - hike loop to Wright's Tower / Cliff to see the city skyline
  • Flynn Rink - Woodland Path - Pickerell Path loop to Bear Rock and Spot Pond
  • Flynn Rink - Rock Circuit Trail - Cross Fells Trail loop to Boojum Rock - view of Boston
