Introduction to Drawing From Still-life to Portrait
The drive to create imagery is as old as human consciousness. The great French artist Paul Cezanne said that all natural forms can be resolved into simple geometric shapes. If you can draw basic geometric shapes then the artist within you is ready for exploration. We are going to start with the fundamentals of the pencil drawing through line, tonal value (different techniques of shading), perspective, proportion and composition. Students will work from a variety of objects, including still life, different components of the face made out of plaster casts to progress to portrait drawing. They will receive one on one instructions and step by step demonstrations. Bring drawing board 24x36, a drawing paper 14X18 (could be + or – the size), #2HB pencil and an eraser. 8 weeks.
