Winchester Recreation Youth Wrestling Team (Grades 3–8)
The Winchester Youth Wrestling Program welcomes wrestlers of all skill levels in grades 3–8. Practices are held twice a week, with a strong focus on building fundamentals and technique.
The season runs from December through mid/late March, with weekend competitions in December and January that prepare athletes for post-season tournaments. Participation in these weekend events is encouraged, as it’s the best way to grow and gain experience. A full competition schedule will be available in December.
What to Bring:
- Active clothing (t-shirt and shorts)
- Wrestling shoes
- Headgear (required at all practices and competitions)
Included with Registration:
Each participant receives a team t-shirt, shorts, and sweatshirt. Please provide sizes when registering.
Any wrestler who qualifies for regionals/states will be provided with a USA card that is mandatory for competiton.
Additional Fee:
Wrestlers can wear their team shorts and t-shirts during scrimmages and tournaments. For those who would like to wear a singlet, there will be more information on where to order provided later.
Headgear- Headgear is required. We recommend the Cliff Keene Tornado head gear, but there are many styles and brands to choose from.
Date: Mondays and Thursdays December 1 - February 5 (Off 12/22, 12/25, 12/29, 1/1, 1/19)

PLEASE NOTE: Monday, December 1, will be a parent/wrestler informational meeting. We ask that a parent/guardian is in attendance for this day.

January 1- Tussle at the Town Hall VS Wellesley – all team members invited to wear their shirts/sweatshirts and cheer on the home team at the Town Hall Auditorium!
WEDNESDAY January 14: VS Arlington at WHS. We will be meeting on Wednesday at WHS instead of having practice on Thursday 1/15- details will be shared as the date approaches.
SCRIMAGE AND DUAL MEETS
On scrimmages and duals, we will need to be at the Venue and ready to wrestle by 8:00.
SCRIMMAGES: 8:00am - 8:45 - Mats will be divided in half (4 halves) kids separated by grade: K-2, 3-4, 5-6, 7-8
